A Father who Answers
Answer me when I call to you,
O God who declares me innocent.
Free me from my troubles.
Have mercy on me and hear my prayer.
You can be sure of this:
The Lord set apart the godly for himself.
The Lord will answer when I call to him.
Many people say, “Who will show us better times?”
Let your face smile on us, Lord.
You have given me greater joy
than those who have abundant harvests of grain and new wine.
In peace I will lie down and sleep,
for you alone, O Lord, will keep me safe.
Psalm 4:1, 3, 6-8.
Pray for:
● Seek the mercy of God in the face of adversity
● Seek the renewing grace of God, and rest in Him
● Perseverance to see better times
Reminder of how to pray the Psalms
START by praying this short prayer:
Dear God, please guide me as I open your Word this morning. Thank you. Amen.
READ a passage of today’s Psalm through twice. Let the Holy Spirit talk to you.
Then go through the passage again for the third time, this time one verse at the time, and pause. There will be words/phrases that will jump out of the verse and inspire or impress you.
PRAY by using these words and phrases, personalise them in terms of your own experience of God. Follow the above process for each of the next verses.
CLOSE with a prayer:
Dear Lord, fill me with your Holy Spirit today and let me be guided by You. Amen.
